This is a nice, old Disabled American Veterans miniature license plate for your key chain. Issued in 1959 for a Pennsylvania license plate, F58-499. The DAV key chain tag program began in the early 1940s and continued into the mid-1970s. These DAV tags were mailed out along with a request for a contribution to support the efforts of Disabled Veterans. The DAV tags matched the true number of the owner's automobile license plate. They did a reasonably good job of mimicking the colors and design of each states license plate of that year. If lost, instructions on the back of each miniature license plate asked the finder to deposit into any mailbox. The keys would then be returned to the DAV and they would then return the keys to the registered owner. measurements: 1-3/8" in length 9/16" tall In excellent condition on both sides. The picture shows a view of both sides of this 1960 Disabled American Veterans Advertising Premium Cigarette Lighter. The center section is brass with the logo and lettering painted. The logo has US Soldiers with one kneeling before an American flag and what appears to be Miss Liberty. The advertising sides are marked as follows: | disabled american veterans | disabled american veterans | fortieth anniversary committee | 1921 - 1960 | The lighter was made by Narudan. There is a marking on the bottom of the letter ''M'' in a diamond shape. The side and bottom are marked as follows: | NARUDAN | NARUDAN | PT. NO. 432427 | trade mark | fine quality automatic | JAPAN | The lighter measures about 2-1/8'' x 1-3/4''. It is in good used condition and the brass has not been polished. The lighter would need a new flint and lighter fluid. There is some wear and there are some notches near the flame area on each side as pictured.
